I want my B.Tech to be themed around capturing the
bridal/umakoti story through the use of two mediums. These stories will be
captured through the use of jewellery and poetry. In various cultures the use
of beading has been used to tell a narrative in some form, as the type of
beadwork used and types of beads used hold significance in certain cultures.
The bridal/makoti topic could be likened to a bottomless
fountain, with a wealth of theoretical approaches to it.
In my personal work I want to sample some of these
approaches to the topic by ultimately producing a body of works which depicts
these ideas. There will be five major themes which I will be focused on or will
direct the thesis, these being:

you have to pay
• The
feminist bride
• The bride
of Christ
• Umakoti
