The Model Wife journals

I came a section in a book titled "The Model Wife", which spoke about journals which were published between the 1830's and the 1840's. I have found these to be of much value for me as these journals were written for women and to help them understand their place in society and in the home environment.

Such journals enforced and encouraged the appeal to being a model wife both on a social level and on a domestic level. They also provided guidelines and advice concerning the correct " etiquette behavior " for a wife. Which I feel would be an interesting read and aid for my own paper, to somehow draft a comparison to what was believed to be proper for a wife then as oppose to what is the standard for a proper wife now.
