I have been looking through the theme of umakoti and have
been coming across several major themes some of these being: ukutwala and the
poor treatment of umakoti by her in laws in many homes.
These are some of the
practices which can be classified as abusive and oppressive for young brides
during the early years, and are an unfortunate depiction of the bridal identity
which I hope to investigate and develop further in my research.
