Peak through the mirror

Before I begin with posting my procrastination blog posts, I have decided to write a quick overview of my initials posts and then start slowly flowing into the ones I need to publish.

The first post I published in 2016 was a post about what had been published by online publications and other bridal blog magazines. This was an important initial phase as I was still researching what was out there, what was being discussed and what conversations were taking place concerning bridal jewellery. This then prompted me to start a collection which would display my interpretation or my response to these bridal conversations. I then started to shape my thoughts as the research process began to widen and started looking at various techniques I could consider using for the actual manufacturing of the designs. Soon after this the theoretical part of my research started to find direction as I started to realize that I didn’t want to just simply design bridal jewellery but Narrative bridal Jewellery, however I still needed to discover the narrative.

As I tried to discover the narrative I played around the themes around the bride and groom, the wedding and marriage, myths and facts etc. trying to find a narrative or concept within this umbrella I could direct my flight light on. I was then reminded of my love of poetry, which is also a medium I could express or depict my narrative through. However I was pencil shy and started looking at poems by other Christian poets and used those as inspiration for a few designs, as I played around the thought of using mixed mediums of narrative.  After conversations with John and Chris, I began to gravitate from the place I had found myself in, I started to fall more in love with the idea of poetry and jewellery, but had the predicament of what narrative would they both be telling? This lead to a door of discovery which was followed by research, playing, self-introspection and most of it was covered in the posts which followed. So in a nut shell that’s the overview.
