Footnotes for Xhosa beadwork

[1]Due to the fact that beadwork was seen as a commodity, in many cases when a person was buried, their bead wear was buried with them. (Yaari, n.d.) Hence it was in 1820 when glass seed beads became introduced into Xhosa beadwork, as a result of their interactions and exchanges with the British from Venice. (Anon., 2011)
