For the love of poetry

Throughout history, there have been countless poems and writings solely dedicated and centred around love/ marriage. But how many of these give true depictions of marriage and love? For we all love the ideas of this one true love made just for me and the happily ever after stories, but why?

None the less, it draws many in and some poems like some tales of the subject end up being timeless writings which go on to form part of many wedding and marriage ceremonies. I have chosen five poems, one popular than most "Let me not to the marriage of true mind" as it is by Shakespeare himself and the other a passage from the Bible, the famous 1Corinthians 13, and lastly three modern poems which have what I view as a realistic concept on the subject. These poems include:"Why marriage-"-by Mari Nichols, "The promise"- by Eileen Rafter and lastly " Wedding Day"- by Denise Jonas.

These five poems as I perceive them contain the idea of love and marriage in a realistic form, thus one knowing that it is not perfect, yet no perfection came be found without it.
