The next approach to the suicide concept was using Xhosa traditional doll heads which would then represent the actual heads of the women who had committed suicide as a result of bridal kidnapping and abusive child marriages. The picture below is just the first stage to the design process, as I still have to bead the heads with eyes and other facial features. I have an ideas as to how I will use the heads, I still have to just finish them off and will then lay them out afterwards
I first tried using pantyhose to cover the cotton balls, unfortunately I found that they were transparent and therefore made the white of the ball visable.
I therefore opted to use a black silk fabric I had leftover from my stash.
