Black Tulip platinum ring

If I were to summarise my PlatAfrica theme, I would say that I have tried to highlight the story of the creation of the black tulip and love. Since my client wanted to celebrate a marriage of 11 years, and the black tulip had taken more or less the same time in order to come into existence, it reflected that same commitment.

I still have more pieces to create along side this final piece in the weeks to come. For now I have also included my final platafrica entry ring below.

Figure 2, is a picture of the bottom of the ring where the connection between the singular elements is more evident.

Figure 3, shows how I have added a swaged leaf at the bottom shank to act a holder for ring and to add stability. While figure 4, shows another angle to the ring, exemplifying how love and marriage can be viwed from different angles in order to be appreciated.

The circle of love

Realizing the beauty our seed has come to yield

Yet it was the promise of the tulip to be

That withstood the winter

And never fell when autumn leaves began to whither

Having your flesh and seed intertwine

Its essence and soul with mine

The product of what winter could have taken

But failed to

From sunset to sunrise

You will be the black tulip that our love created through the years of time

This love was a promise

Of what could be, when you held my hand from sunset to sunrise
