The fourth painting was another commentary of sorts, based of feminine issues. In the artwork, I had the words "By her stripes we are healed" included. In retrospect, I feel that it was blasphemous in a way, since the Bible in the boom of Isaiah 53:5 says: "
But he was wounded for our transgressions, he was bruised for our iniquities: the chastisement of our peace was upon him; and with his stripes we are healed."
However, the reason why I chose to have it phrased in that manner was that I felt a wounds pain, past and hurt is what enables her to have the heart that she has. She is able to be tender and compassionate to those who struggle and suffer, due to what she has endured.
I had chosen to cover her face so as to express the idea that the woman is not one specific woman, but all women.
