These would include the creation of any 3D
form or using a technique that would bring about this result, it would also
include any experimentation with vertical and horizontal formation, etc. An
example that shows the benefit of dimensionality in beadwork design would be
the design by Tiena Habing.
Figure 7 Tiena Habing, Ocular Chain.
|
Habing has taken ocular shape and given it both thickness and
stability so that the beadwork can stand on its own. When designing this
particular piece, it is evident that she has considered stability as she also
added thickness to the joining links which connect the individual ocular shapes
to create a chain. What has also added to the chain stability is the internal
beading which balances out the external beads which form the ocular shape
When attempting to create an item of jewellery which is
chiefly focused around dimensionality, it would, therefore, be important to
consider both the individual elements and the overall design as the structure
will be the determining factor to the general success of the piece.
