Which Issues am I addressing in this series?

My next design theme was inspired by a poem I wrote which is about a girl who was kidnapped for marriage, and then forced to remain in the marriage by both her family and the husband’s family. She had been taken at a tender age as she would be easier to control and entrap.

She had hoped to marry one day, but has grown to hate marriage because of the way it had been presented to her, through been kidnapped and then raped  and since her innocence has been taken away from her is now forced to remain in this marriage, her cage as no other man will marry her. According to tradition once a girl has spent the night with another man, even if it is against her will she would be considered tainted and thus the broken part of her figurative wings as she will never know the joy of marrying for love.

She is thus caged : emotionally for she ought not to reveal her pain, physically as she is not allowed to leave, spiritually as she is forced to follow the belifs of her new home and ultimately she is caged as a person for she can no longer be herslef. her tradition and family have left her void of who she is and sha thus herself embodied the qualities of a cage, she is a cage bird.
