The next development in the cage bird came about when I was designing my piece for the Plat Africa competition. As per the brief, platinum would have to be the most dominate material of the jewellery. As I spoke with Nick, he gave me the idea of replacing the small beads I was using with actual silver metal, which in turn would represent the platinum. As seen below, I have created going through the process of drawing down silver tube into the same size as the yellow beads. I have also tried to capture the v shape I had been working with as a symbol of a bird's view of the bird.
I was not fully satisfied with the overall appearance and do feel that there is a lot of room for improvement when it comes to the piece. The part of the piece which I did appreciate was how I executed the small silver beads.
