Owing to a feedback conversation I had with Chris, I started trying to figure out how I could elevate the design concept to better house the idea of a cage form. So I started off by using the silver weave backing which I had used to make the cage bird concept which had various shades of blue in it. I started off by introducing an external silver wire covered by the tube bead elements which I had made. This was to see which idea would work best, introducing the beaded wire after the weave or if it was to weave the beaded silver wire with the rest of the silver weave. The picture below was my first test piece for the experiment.
Some of the problems which I had experienced with this stage of the experiment was that some of the beads would snap of out place, the initial weave seemed to dictate where I could place the beaded wire, this in turn restricted the design control and didn't leave much room for freedom, but gave me many restrictions.
The overall appearance of the weaving experiment I had conducted was not exactly what I wanted to achieve, I therefore decided to undo the weave and then try the second part of the experiment which was begin the weave along side the beaded wire.
This meant that I would add my bead elements onto the wire as the weave developed. There were several advantages to this method, such as: I could easily add on the elements without causing the actual wire to harden too much, I had more control of weave and the direction in which I was beading, which meant that I could adapt the design to my thoughts as I developed it further.
The other advantage of this method was that the overall appearance appeared to be more natural, flowing and appealing when compared to the first part of the experiment.
