Experiementing

After the mini experimental material shopping, I started off with playing around with ideas of how I can incorporate shweshwe into my jewellery. As I have been trying to use resin again, as of late; I have decided to play around with how I can fuse the two in order to create a few pieces.

These are pictures of the resin ring I finished this morning.
the first few attempts at setting the resin into the ring were a failure, and one resulted in the ring being thrown away by one of the students who did see the ring as it was covered by resin. This meant that i would not only have to reset the resin, but remake the ring. None the less, the ring is done.

I have decided to make some round thick jump rings for the experiment, these are made from brass and copper wire.

I then went on to leave the open at the bottom so as to see if the resin will set. However, it did not, it leaked out. This left me with two options, adding a back plate behind the circles or to use a comre concealed container. I thus decided to go with the back plate opposition and will wait to see the results, one the test subjects have dried.

As I will be using fabric on the piece, I have decided to leave the resin clear.

Will be posting findings soon.
